Carpet Cleaners Alderley Edge
If you’re looking for experienced technicians local to you, look no further. We have over twenty years in this industry.
Why should you have your carpets cleaned?
Being an investment, it is best to look after one’s furnishings.
We suggest using our service every twelve months for deep steam extraction.
Twice per annum if your household has pets or young children.
If you think about it, you change your clothes daily and wash them. So having people walk in, up and down the stairs, lay on the floor, including the dog, spillages, and other accidents.
Using a Hoover regularly is great, but has its limitations.
All it is doing is sucking up small particles and dust.
It is what is going on deep down which may cause you some concern.
Bacteria thrive in dirty, warm environments. As do dust mites and other microscopic friends.
If you have allergies, this is another reason you should contact us.
So what is the process we use?
You can not just go gung ho and throw some solutions down.
We have a lot of experience behind us. Being able to identify the fibres will dictate what method should be used.
Our most popular system is steam extraction that we use on around 90% of jobs.
This is what we do
1/ Survey what work is to be carried out.
2/ Identify what stains require dealing that will not be removed using standard chemicals.
This could be tea, coffee, or juices. The list is endless.
3/ We now vacuum. It can take up to ten minutes for a standard lounge. We will go slowly in all directions to maximise the removal of all loose contaminants, but it will also give us a better picture of what we are dealing with.
4/ Stains receive retrospective treatment. Chemistry is critical.

We may have to use acids, gels, or fit-for-purpose solutions. Please note not all blemishes can be removed, especially if previous attempts have been made using shop products.
5/ Using alkaline chemicals, we apply this via a spray bottle under pressure. We would like to be liberal in doing this as this allows all the fibres to have contact with the solution. I like to allow a period to lapse allowing the chemistry to work.
6/ We now agitate this with a dedicated piece of machinery called a CRB. This piece of kit has rotating brushes that allow any liquids we used to be massaged deeply into the fibres.
7/ Set Up- Our machines are powerful. Able to operate up to 100ft away. Water pressure, in most instances, will be set at 300psi however, we can increase this should the need arise.
Heat is critical. So steam has other benefits, such as breaking down grease and smells and destroying microorganisms that crawl and multiply daily.
The vacuum system will uplift 95% of the moisture, enabling the drying process to take around 2/4 hours. This depends on the fibre length and humidity of the room.
8/ To complete the works, say for a standard lounge from start to finish on average takes an hour to complete.
Low Moisture
We would use this on water-sensitive fibres such as Wiltons that are prone to shrinkage. The reason for this is that their construction is different in the warp and weft, so when to over-wet, contract and when dry will shrink.
To combat this, we would use a rotary pad.
Like HWE we hoover and address stains.
This process uses a wool pad that rotates across the room, releasing a small amount of water. Changing the pad regularly to ensure no transfer of dirt.
This method has its limits. Only the surface is dealt with.
When we deal with this type of issue, we have three levels.
1/ This is where we can identify the area of contamination and flush the area with cold, treat it with a urine-destroying agent, and then extract.
2/ Heavier contamination will involve the ammonia smell. We apply the chemical of choice for the situation. This is liberally applied. We then use a dedicated hand tool to flush under immense pressure. After the procedure, a UV test is carried out to ensure all contamination has been expelled.
If we have to remove and replace the underlay after our survey, this is what we do.
Pull back the carpet to reveal the area to be dealt with. Furniture may have to be removed from the room.
Remove the underlay. Sanitise the subfloor. We now treat the reverse side of the carpet, then we carry out a deep clean.
Replace the new underlay. This has to be the same thickness otherwise a crease will appear.
The steaming process can now take place.
Solutions we use
Over time, the solutions we use have become more effective. From less dwelling times to less invasive chemicals.
There are several suppliers in the UK all trying to state that their products are the best in the market. We don’t take anyone’s word for it. Our team thoroughly tests every product. Operating side by side to judge, which is the best chemistry for a certain fibre. Putting our findings under the microscope.
We remove fibres and place them under a microscope to take a deeper view.

When working with your sofa or any type of furniture, we approach this by identification. Chemicals, water pressure and heat are all adjusted accordingly.
Applying the best and safest solution specific to the fabric we are dealing with.
Stain removal from fabric is what we address first. After this, we proceed with the work. We start at the rear and then work to the sides. These are normally the least dirty sections. After this, we now start with rear padding areas and headrests.
Finally, the seating area. When we start, we may re-apply and agitate for more solutions.
When our work is complete, we view our work through our camera. Once I am happy, we now rub down the furniture with fresh terry towels. Doing this will re-nap the fibre and lift any excess moisture. If we have other work to do, we will dry this off with air movers.
Hides can be luxurious. With any type of skin, we need to De grease and nourish it. Failure to do so will cause over time drying out and cracking. To avoid this, we suggest an annual service. We only use the best products for any leather upholstery we maintain.
So how do we refresh your leather?
Using a mild solution, we wash down the entire sofa. Breaking down all grease and dirt. For a typical 3 seater, this may take around thirty minutes to complete. After this process, we now apply the cream. Using small circular motions to ensure 100% coverage.
Please allow around an hour an hour after completion before you start using your furniture.
We see adverts promoting rental machinery, but is it worth your time and energy?
To do this yourself, you need to
1/ Shop around for a price and availability.
2/ Collect the machine
3/ Do the work yourself
4/ Return the machine.
What can you expect results-wise?
You may be lucky and do an ok job but not great.
You versus me.
You can only use hot water that lowers in temperature quickly.
I use constant steam.
Water pressure using rental machines doesn’t exceed 30psi.
I on average, use 350psi. Using this level of pressure penetrates all the fibre.
Vacuum power is limited on your rental. A Ten-foot 1.5-inch hose with a small motor.
Our portable machine can operate up to eighty feet away using two powerful motors.
Our truck mount can operate up to 180 feet.
Drying times for you would be 24 hours, minimum.
My drying times are two hours as we use air movers.
The advantage of drying times is that odours can start to grow, which is mildew. And the mildew is in the underlay.
And the reason the underlay is holding this smell is that the rental product is not powerful enough to suck all the moisture back.
So what happens now is that you contact a professional to come and sort your problem, which may be simple or what we call a rip out.
A rip-out is where we have to replace the underlay.
